Foot Issues In Children That Should Send You To A Foot Specialist

About Me
Taking Care Of Your Feet

I have always loved my feet, which is probably one of the reasons I started investing so much time into their care. I began focusing on looking after them while I was working out, and it made a big difference in the way that my feet felt. Before I knew it, I was able to do just about any kind of physical activity without pain, and it was really interesting to see how big of a difference visiting with a podiatrist made. My doctor understood what challenges my feet were up against, and he worked hard to help me to resolve them. Check out this blog for more information.

Your child is going to be hard on their feet, running from here to there and everywhere in between, playing in shoes that may or may not fit them properly because that pair is their favorite. If you begin to notice anything unusual, you should take your child to a foot specialist for help. If you aren't sure what is to be considered unusual, read on for a few foot issues that should send you to a foot specialist.

Walking Over His Shoes

If you notice your child's shoes are wearing out on one side of the other, rather than being worn evenly on the soles, it may be because they are walking over their shoes. Your child may have turned in ankles or ankles that are turned outwardly, which may be the cause of this. If your child has inward or outward ankles, your child may complain a lot about their feet hurting, or your child may have issues with tripping over their own feet. Either way, if you notice this issue, you should take your child to a foot specialist to be sure there isn't a problem with their ankles or their feet.

Complaints Of Heel Pain

If your child is complaining of pain in the heels, it could be because their shoes aren't offering enough support, or it could be because they have heel spurs. If your child has heel spurs, it could be causing this pain. Heel spurs can sometimes heal on their own, or they may require some treatment. Some treatments may include using cold compresses, or your child may need supports in their shoes to help cushion their heels a bit more. Children especially can be hard on their shoes, and wear out the insoles much faster than most adults will. If your child has heel pain, you should seek treatment from a foot specialist.

Ingrown Toenails

If your child has complaints of toe pain, check their toenails to see if they have ingrown toenails. Ingrown toenails are common, especially in children that are beginning to trim their own nails. As your child grows, they will begin to do this on their own, but you need to be sure your child can clip their nails properly. Toenails should be clipped straight across, not at an angle. If your child is clipping their nails at an angle, it will cause ingrown toenails, which can be very painful and can get infected, which will be even more painful. Take your child to the foot specialist for proper treatment.

If your child has any of these foot issues, you should contact a foot specialist for more information on what to do. Pay attention to your child if they are walking differently or your child is beginning to complain more often about foot pain.
